It's hard to have favorite labs, just like one doesn't have favorite children but I love our first grade light lab.
First graders bring a joy and wonder to life that just isn't found everywhere.
Ask your child to introduce you to Mr. Roy G. Biv.
Looking for some rainy day fun?
Turn out the lights, grab a flashlight and mirrors (yes, that's plural) and let your first grader lead the way.
The kids have spectroscopes to bring home and I will be sending pictures to the classroom of all them looking "stellar" in the our "reflection room".
Science Rocks! (and so do first graders)
Bella from Mrs. Finch's class loved it! She told us all about how she got to be the "incident object." (OK, maybe she didn't use the technical term! ;)
ReplyDeleteShe might surprise you, though we didn't quite hit those technical terms, the kids were pretty amazing. We did bounce some light around out tables a bit like ping-pong balls. I'm always amazed when the first graders pull that off.
ReplyDeleteStudent #1 shines flashlight diagonally across table to S2. S2 reflects the light straight across to S3. S3 then reflects the light diagonally S4 who is sitting across from S1. S4 holds up a picture of a sun and we light it up that way. Very fun!.
